Mathura: Jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh stolen from Swaraj Express

AGRA: A handbag containing jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh and Rs 60, 000 cash was stolen by an unknown man from the AC coach of Swaraj Express The incident took place on Saturday early morning at around 2am near outer (Narhauli bridge) of Mathura junction, while the train was about to halt for a five-minute stoppage. After listening to the sequence of event briefly inside the train coach, we dispatched a team for lookout, but no one was found around the area where the incident took place.”He said, “Once the zero FIR lodged by Jalandhar GRP is received, we will expand our investigation based on the details provided by the couple in the complaint.” According to police, a Mumbai-based couple, identified as Dharm Singh and his wife Indra Verma, along with two children was heading to Jalandhar from Mumbai in B4 coach, when an unknown man snatched the jewellery and cash bag from their berth and jumped off the running train.As soon the train reached Mathura junction platform, the Railway Protection Force and Government Railway Police team reached inside the coach and took the details of couple and heard their complaint.Speaking to TOI, station house officer of Mathura junction Shiv Kumar Singh Ponia said, “Since the train had only five minutes of stoppage, the couple decided to file FIR at Jalandhar railway station.
