42 candidates file nominations in Agra on last day

Eighteen candidates have filed papers for the Agra seat and 24 for Fatehpur Sikri. Agra: Forty-two candidates, contesting from the Agra and Fatehpur Sikri seats of Agra district, submitted their papers for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections on Tuesday, the last day of filing nominations for the second phase of LS polls The four-day nomination process ended on Tuesday. Out of the 42 candidates, 23 will fight as independents.For the Fatehpur Sikri seat, candidates who filed nominations on the last day included Rajkumar Chahar of BJP, Shribhagwan Sharma of BSP and Mansiha Singh Chauhan of Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party. The remaining 13 were independents.As for the Agra seat, the candidates included Raja Valmiki of Rashtriya Vyapaar Party, Himanshi of Lok Ghatbandhan Party and Sekhar of People’s Party. After that, the final list of candidates will be announced."

The remaining 11 will be contesting as independents.In Agra, the contest to look out for will be between BJP candidate SP Singh Baghel, BSP-SP-RLD coalition candidate Manoj Kumar Soni and Congress candidate Preeta Harit.For the Fatehpur Sikri seat, BJP’s Rajkumar Chahar will fight Congress candidate Raj Babbar and coalition candidate Shribhagwan Sharma.Assistant district election officer Bharat Singh said, “Now the returning officers will check all the nomination forms submitted by the candidates on March 27 and 28. On March 29, candidates will have a chance to withdraw their names. After that, the final list of candidates will be announced."
