Unaccounted cash worth Rs 35 lakh seized by Agra police

AGRA: In three different operations, Agra police recovered over Rs 35 lakh worth of unaccounted cash The biggest among them was on Wednesday afternoon in New Agra police jurisdiction on service lane of NH-2, when police recovered Rs 30 lakh cash from two motor-bike riders, Vikas Mittal (40) and Jitendra Kumar (30). Similarly, in Chhatta police jurisdiction, unaccounted cash worth Rs 2.84 lakh was recovered from Belanganj bridge, after the man carrying the amount failed to show a receipt. According to police, the men failed to show a receipt for the cash. The two were employees of a local private diary.According to police, they were supposed to hand over the cash to one Nikhil, an employee of another dairy. The men were caught near Chandsore border.

The two were employees of a local private diary.According to police, they were supposed to hand over the cash to one Nikhil, an employee of another dairy. “An amount of Rs 30L in cash was seized under section 131 of Income Tax Act, as the duo wasn’t able to produce a receipt for the money,” said Ajay Kaushal, station house officer of New Agra.Talking to TOI, S K Arela, assistant commissioner of income tax (Investigation wing) said, “Till the investigation is completed, the seized sum of cash will be with police.”Meanwhile, Jagner police caught two men carrying Rs 2.18 lakh cash in a car from Dholpur to Bharatpur. The men were caught near Chandsore border. According to police, the men failed to show a receipt for the cash. Similarly, in Chhatta police jurisdiction, unaccounted cash worth Rs 2.84 lakh was recovered from Belanganj bridge, after the man carrying the amount failed to show a receipt.
