Nomination papers of 16 poll aspirants rejected

Agra: The election officials rejected 16 nomination papers filed for the forthcoming elections on Agra and Fatehpur Sikri seat during the scrutiny process on Wednesday. Now, only 16 candidates remain in poll fray from Agra.In the four day nomination process which ended on Tuesday, total 43 candidates filed nomination from Agra and Fatehpur Sikri seats. She had filed nomination as a dummy candidate of her father. Seven nominations were cancelled on Agra seat and nine on Fatehpur Sikri seat leaving a total of 27 candidates to contest on both the seats.Nomination papers of Saloni Singh, daughter of BJP’s candidate from Agra SP Singh Baghel, stood rejected due some errors. 18 candidates had filed papers from Agra seat and 25 from Fatehpur Sikri.The Agra seat would witness a tough fight between BJP candidate SP Singh Baghel, BSP-SP-RLD coalition candidate Manoj Kumar Soni and Congress candidate Preeta Harit.

Majority of the cases were related to independent candidates. Seven nominations were cancelled on Agra seat and nine on Fatehpur Sikri seat leaving a total of 27 candidates to contest on both the seats.Nomination papers of Saloni Singh, daughter of BJP’s candidate from Agra SP Singh Baghel, stood rejected due some errors. She had filed nomination as a dummy candidate of her father. Like few other applicants, her forms was incomplete. Some of the candidates failed to produce required documents even after a notice was issued to them.On Agra seat, candidates whose nomination forms were cancelled include Saloni Singh, Manoj Kumar son of Sukhram, Manoj Kumar son of Fauran Singh, Shekhar, Prempal and Vijay Kumar. Now, there are only 11 candidates to contest on the Agra seat.On Fatehpur Sikri seat, nomination form of Rajveer Singh, who was replaced by Shribhagwan Sharma at the last minute on final day of nomination process on Tuesday, was found incomplete and hence, it was rejected. He had not submitted ‘B’ form which is a proof that a particular candidate is put up by a political party. Shailendra Kumar Jain, Uttara, Hasanuram Ambedkari, Lakhan Singh, Rajendra Prasad, Rahul and Vijay Singh Tomar were other candidates who will not be able to contest the Lok Sabha elections. For the Fatehpur Sikri seat, BJP’s Rajkumar Chahar will stand against Congress candidate Raj Babbar and coalition candidate Shribhagwan Sharma.Assistant district election officer Bharat Singh said, “On March 29, candidates will have a chance to withdraw their names. After that, the final list of candidates along with their authorized symbol will be announced.”
