AGRA: Sitting BJP MP Satish Gautam, who is re-contesting elections from Aligarh, was left embarrassed while he was addressing a meeting in Sehroi on Thursday when a man present in the audience snatched the mike from a party worker and announced that Gautam had done nothing for people of Sehroi.The person, whose identity was not known immediately, walked to the MP, took the mike from the worker and said that Gautam had refused to help him, despite repeated requests. Gautam and his supporters had to leave Sehroi, located in Khair area, soon after the incident.Criticising the MP, the person said that Gautam has come to Sehroi on Thursday but will again forget its people once elected. He said, “I approached the MP for some urgent work, when he was present at the DM’s office. The MP had asked me to meet the DM as he did not have time for me.”Gautam’s supporter tried to stop the person, but he refused to walk off till he completed his statement.The embarrassment comes at a time when Gautam is already facing heat from a section of party workers opposed to the allotment of tickets to him. Rajasthan governor Kalyan Singh is said to have expressed displeasure over the party’s decision to re-field sitting MP Satish Gautam from Aligarh.A video of Gautam addressing a gathering of over 100 people in Sehroi went viral on social media on Thursday. In the 4.30-min-long video, Gautam can be heard admitting that he could not fulfill some of the demands of the people, including improvement in drainage and lighting systems. “I apologise for my mistakes and hope that you all will forgive me considering me your brother, son or nephew,” he said, while urging them to vote for him.
