AMU defers decision on suspension of two students including BJP MLArsquos grandson

While the first group comprised of Imran Khan , Abdul Mabood, Farhan Zubairi and Adil Khan, the other was led by Ajay Singh. Their suspensions were till the completion of the inquiry.The varsity had also banned the entry of these students in the campus. At first a group of students allegedly had an altercation with the journalists of a news channel. One of these suspended students, Farhan Zubairi, was also among the 14 students booked by police under charges of sedition , which was later dropped in absence of any concrete evidence. Later, two different groups of students, including some Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) workers, clashed outside the campus, leading to arson and vehicle damage.A day after the clash, AMU authorities had suspended eight students for indiscipline and misconduct.

AGRA: While the disciplinary committee of Aligarh Muslim University AMU ) has revoked the suspension of six of the eight students allegedly involved in the violence of February 12 in the campus, it deferred the decision on the suspension of two other students, including first year LLM student Ajay Singh, grandson of BJP MLA Dalveer Singh.Confirming the move, spokesperson of the university Shafey Kidwai said that the decision on the suspension of Ajay Singh and Adil Khan has been deferred and they have been given another chance to present their case before the disciplinary committee. “The date for the committee meeting has however not been decided yet. Till then their suspension will continue,” he said.According to the office memo, Ajay Singh could not clarify as to why he along with his fellow students did not approach the university authorities for their perceived grievances and instead resorted to creating disturbance in the campus. The memo states, “The committee has therefore decided to give him one more opportunity to present his case in the next meeting.”The memo also states that if he is aggrieved with the decision of the committee, he can approach the executive council within three months.On February 12, a protest was held on the campus against the planned visit of AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi.
