Mathura: Twenty-two activists were on Monday arrested for allegedly trying to "disturb peace" by raising the communally sensitive issue of the Krishna Janmabhumi temple and the Shahi Idgah mosque in Uttar Pradesh`s Mathura. “Claiming to be members of Hindu Army, the activists were nabbed from different parts of the district,” Circle Officer, Mathura, Varun Kumar Singh said. Hindu Army chief Manish Yadav reached Mathura with his team to start the stir for "liberating" the Janmabhumi on Monday.

According to the available information, the Hindu Army organisation was formed about a year back in Lucknow and Manish Yadav was chosen its president. After being elected as the chief of this organisation, Manish Yadav planned a stir to take back the Krishna Janmabhumi. The Mathura administration was alert since they received information of this planned stir and the Agra range IG, A Satish Ganesh, had given clear instructions to the local police officials not to allow the peace and tranquillity of the district be disrupted by any such stirs.

As soon as Manish arrived in Mathura with his supporters, all of them were arrested by the police for trying to disturb peace. Mathura City SP Uday Shankar Singh said that the organisation had spread several rumours about the Krishna Janmabhumi, and, taking action in this matter, Manish Yadav and 22 of his supporters were arrested. He said that the intent of these people appeared to be to disrupt the social harmony of the Mathura district. Hindustani Biradari`s Samir said that the entire Braj region is an example of religious and social harmony for the rest of the world. This land has given birth to several Muslim poets who wrote hundreds of poetries praising Krishna.

"This land has the Taj Mahal and also the Bankey Bihari Temple. Thousands of Muslim workers make bangles in this region that are used by Hindu women as a symbol of their marriage. The dresses worn by the idols of Lord Krishna on Janmashtami all over the Braj region are mostly made by Muslims. To try and disrupt this mutual respect among the people of Braj for each other`s religious practices, is a serious crime against humanity and should be punished accordingly," Samir said.

He said that the Hindustani Biradari continually works with the administration of Mathura and the rest of the Braj region to maintain this peace and it will not allow this peace to be disturbed. He appealed to the Muslim community leaders to support the administration by keeping an eye on such people who may try to disturb the tranquillity in this region.
