A 50-year-old farmer was allegedly shot dead on Monday by a youth who was booked three years ago for assaulting his daughter with an intent to outrage her modesty in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras district.
Police said that the woman’s father was allegedly shot by one Guarav Sharma (26) and his associates around 4pm in the village Naujarpur on Monday after a heated argument between the deceased, his family members and the suspect.

Police said initially an altercation broke out between the women of the two families due to a previous dispute. In a fit of rage, Guarav called some of his associates to the spot and shot the farmer dead.
The incident took place when the wife and aunt of the main accused had gone to offer prayers in a local temple in the village where the deceased’s daughters were already present.

The farmer was taken to the hospital but doctors declared him brought dead. An FIR has been registered against four identified persons including Guarav on the basis of a complaint given by the victim’s family.
Hathras SP Vineet Jaiswal said that during investigation it was found that in July 2018, a molestation case was filed by the girl against Guarav under Section 354, 452, and 506 of IPC. The accused was bailed out after spending one month in jail. Since then there was a tussle between the two families.

Following the directions of chief minister Yogi Adityanath for strict action against the suspects, the district police is contemplating to book the accused under stringent sections of the National Security Act (NSA).
