Student climbs atop roof of college, threatens suicide if BPEd exam not conducted

According to Kailash Nath Singh, Agra university registrar, "The student was upset due to delay in examination but now has alighted from the roof top and is safe." AGRA: Disappointed over Agra University 's failure to conduct BPEd (Bachelor of physical education) examination, a first-year undergraduate student climbed on the rooftop of his Chhalesar-based campus and threatened to commit suicide. "I have given him and other students written assurity to conduct all four-semester examinations as as soon as possible and none of the student course completion will be delayed," he said.

AGRA: Disappointed over Agra University 's failure to conduct BPEd (Bachelor of physical education) examination, a first-year undergraduate student climbed on the rooftop of his Chhalesar-based campus and threatened to commit suicide. On Friday, local police and university administration went into a tizzy as the student refused to listen and wanted written assurance from the administration that the exam would be conducted.Identified as Ravi Kumar , the student alleged that university was supposed to conduct the examination in November 2016, but till date not even examination dates has been announced. He said, "The university registrar Kaliash Nath Singh asked me to take back course fee and leave the university.""I cannot afford to waste my one year, therefore took extreme step to make the authorities pay heed to our demand," he said. The high-octane drama lasted for more than two hours, after which several other students too joined the protest against the university authorities. Taking cognizance of the critical situation, Etmadpur police immediately called registrar of the university and asked him to talk to students.In total 57 BPEd students are now in the lurch as their exam dates have continuously being postponed. According to Kailash Nath Singh, Agra university registrar, "The student was upset due to delay in examination but now has alighted from the roof top and is safe." "I have given him and other students written assurity to conduct all four-semester examinations as as soon as possible and none of the student course completion will be delayed," he said. Due to leniency and unprofessional attitude of Agra university staff, the institution has gain bad reputation over the years. The university could not even made into top 100 list of UGC.
