Cops keep tabs on travellers in groups

Speaking with TOI , deputy commandant of railway protection force, Ashok Kumar Shukla , said, "Our squad members patrolling in trains have been asked to be extra vigilant. "On Sunday , policemen were found patrolling railway stations, trains and frisking passengers with handheld scanners. Similar to the Ballabhgarh lynching incident, three weeks back, a youth travelling to Mainpuri from New Delhi was killed by a group of men following a minor dispute over seat. All our efforts are to ensure that passengers travel in trains without fear." Since it's festive time, we don't want to take any chance and are tak ing every necessary measure to avoid any kind of mishap.

AGRA: Following the horrific lynching of a youth in a train in Ballabhgarh in Haryana , the government railway police and railway protection force of Agra division have enhanced the security parameters in trains passing under their jurisdictions.Security personnel have been asked to keep a tab on men travelling in groups and detain those who are carrying illegal weapons - knives or blunt objects - in trains.The policemen have been asked to be extra vigilant on Eid on Monday .Superintendent of police (railways), Agra division, Shiv Hari Meena , said, "Extra precautions are being taken.Suspicious passengers or men travelling in groups are being thoroughly checked for any blunt objects. Since it's festive time, we don't want to take any chance and are tak ing every necessary measure to avoid any kind of mishap."On Sunday , policemen were found patrolling railway stations, trains and frisking passengers with handheld scanners."I'm also making surprise visits at railway stations and taking review of se curity measures. Similar to the Ballabhgarh lynching incident, three weeks back, a youth travelling to Mainpuri from New Delhi was killed by a group of men following a minor dispute over seat. We don't want such incidents to happen again," he added.On June 5, a youth was lynched to death in front of scores of passengers by a group of men at Chamrola station, when he refused to give his seat, The incident took place in the general coach of Anand Vihar-Kanpur Express. Speaking with TOI , deputy commandant of railway protection force, Ashok Kumar Shukla , said, "Our squad members patrolling in trains have been asked to be extra vigilant. We are also closely monitoring movements of passengers with our CCTV cameras. All our efforts are to ensure that passengers travel in trains without fear."
