Amid tight security, Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated

AGRA: Amid tight security arrangements, citizens celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr with peace and harmony in Agra on Monday. A special namaz was offered at Idgah where politicians and senior administrative officials celebrated the festival with citizens. Scores of Muslims thronged various mosques in the city and wished each other on a day that marks the end of the sacred month of Ramazan. City markets were abuzz with shoppers buying gifts for the loved ones.At Idgha , a special namaz was offered at 7.30 am by city mufti Abdula Khubaeb Rumi. Senior cleric Irfan Ullah Khan offered namaz at Shahi Jama Masjid , while Imam Sadihk Ali offered prayers at the Taj Mahal A large number of Muslims congregated at these locations throughout the day.Members from the community also visited Akbari Masjid, Mothwad Khan Masjid, Lohamandi Masjid and various other mosques to offer prayers.

Special security arrangements were put in place by Agra Police for peaceful Eid celebrations.Idgah and other major mosques were heavily guarded by policemen and several route diversions were made to ensure that there weren't traffic jams and devotees did not have problems in reaching mosques.The Agra Municipal Corporation made standard sanitation and hygiene arrangements around places of worship across the city.
