Aligarh youth trapped in Riyadh, family seeks Sushma Swaraj's help

AGRA: An Aligarh family has sought the help of Union External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj , for the return of their kin, Durgesh Agarwal (24), who is stuck in Riyadh after his employers, who used to torture him, have forcibly kept his passport.According to Durgesh's family, he went to Saudi Arabia on February 16 this year after a local mechanic (mistri) lured him with better job prospects there. Saying that her son was scared and had no help there, Saroj Devi said, "without a passport and money he just cannot come back".She said that she approached Aligarh Mayor, Shakuntala Bharti and she assured them for help from external affair minsiter, Sushma Swaraj.Shakuntala Bharti told media that she has requested the Government of India to intervene and rescue Durgesh and bring him back to India. Talking to TOI, his sister, Preeti Agarwal said, the mechanic, Tufail and his brother Sarrafuddin convinced Durgesh that he would make lot of money there and asked him pay Rs 2 lakhs to them for arranging his visa and completing other formalities.She said, the duo convinced Durgesh, who has studied only till class 10, that they would arrange a job of a driver for him and it would fetch him over Rs 50,000 per month.She said that after reaching Saudi Arabia and staying there for a couple of months, Durgesh told them that his employer's were torturing and harassing him and he was being forced to do manual labour.
