Agra: The Aligarh Police on Saturday arrested six people and booked 96 others, including 80 unidentified persons, in connection with the rioting that took place in the Upper Court area on Friday.Talking to TOI, SSP Rajesh Pandey said that three separate cases have been registered under various sections of the IPC, including section 147 (rioting), 148 (armed with deadly weapon), 149 (unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object), 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) and 307 (attempt to murder).The arrested men were identified as Mohd Ashraf, Mohd Aamir, Mohd Naushad, Mohd Akram, Mohd Shoaib and Mohd Jeeshan. The SSP said that 50 other people have also been identified based on a video recording from Friday. “Five separate teams have been formed to trace them. Houses have been identified where stones were collected in advance and notices are being issued to the owners. On its part, the district administration has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC.Violence broke out in Aligarh after the Friday prayers when some youths, who were protesting the killing of two brothers, Mohammad Wasim and Mohammad Aashu, by a man from another community, turned violent and indulged in heavy brick batting.
