Hackers use phishing mail to hack mobile, siphon off Rs 5 lakh

AGRA: Agra cyber cell has come across an online fraud case in which the victim's mobile phone was remotely hacked by foreign-based hackers who siphoned off more than Rs 5 lakh from his bank account. Police helped recover Rs 2.17 lakh but the remaining amount could not be retrieved. As soon the app was installed, the hackers took control of the phone remotely and waited for late night. "According to the police, there is a dedicated team of hackers who work round the clock and target millions of bank customers. An investigation by a team of the IG cyber cell led by Inspector Sanjeev Katiyar and his colleague Vishal found that hackers had sent a phishing email to victim.
