Man found near Agra Cantt in ‘military dress’ to be handed over to Chinese officials

The military police found him roaming around Sadar area of Agra Cantonment on a bicycle. The Chinese national was arrested near Agra Cantonment while wearing a “military-style” camouflage dress and loitering around the area.According to Haibo’s passport, he hails from Sheng village of Jilin province in northeastern China. So we will hand him over to Chinese officials.”An official who questioned the Chinese national said, "About his attire, Haibo said that wearing camouflage dress was common in his country. They recovered a blanket, passport, visa, cash in Indian currency and the bicycle from him.Superintendent of police for local intelligence Vijay Kapil said, “Haibo has valid visa and passport. We are expecting Chinese Embassy official to visit and verify his identity.”

The Chinese national held on Saturday evening in camouflage dress while loitering near Agra Cantonment is not answering three key questions including the purpose of his visit to India and his activities here, said sleuths of military and civil police.“Yan Haibo, 36, claimed that he landed at IGI Airport in Delhi on October 24, but failed to provide further details, such as why he came to India; where he was till date after arriving in India and what were his plans,” said a police official who is part of the team interrogating Haibo. He said he landed at IGI Airport in Delhi on October 24 and then travelled to Nepal on a bicycle before coming to Agra. He also planned to travel to Northeast India but lost his luggage and money. He didn’t understand the local language here either."When TOI spoke to Haibo using Google translator, he said, “I want to meet Chinese Embassy officials and return home.”Station house officer Ravi Bhushan Pandey of tourism police said, “Haibo claims to be a labourer and lives with his parents in Sheng village. After interrogation by sleuths, he was handed over to us. He has a tourist visa valid till February 2018. We are expecting Chinese Embassy official to visit and verify his identity.”
