The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation will be providing free Wi-Fi at 45 locations from Friday. Along with that, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani will be inaugurating Ahmedabad’s monitoring unit to ensure the security of the citizens, too. The AMC has several projects lined up as a part of the Smart City Project, which will now be monitored 24*7 from the Command and Control Centre, stationed at Paldi. Detailing about the free Wi-Fi provision, Ramya Bhatt, an AMC official, said: “We are yet to frame a policy on the usage of the Wi-Fi. But, for the time being, one will have unlimited access to internet from the given locations.” “Also, Saturday onwards, the Janmitra Card — the common payment cards of AMC — will be applicable for AMTS buses also. So far, the card could be used for BRTS commutation only. The cards are like any other debit card; one can use it for AMC services and other retail services,” added Bhatt. Smart Parking locations Rupani is also going to inaugurate an application, which will help one find parking space at eight locations in the city. “The application provides real-time information about free parking slots. The system will also display the total number of parking lots, as well which ones are free or occupied. This has been linked with a monitoring system that will provide auto updates in the application about the same,” said Rakesh Shankar, Deputy Municipal Commissioner, AMC. Zero tolerance junctions At present, there are 40 zero tolerance junctions for traffic violations. Soon, there will be many more such junctions across the city, with more than 6,000 CCTV camera installations. E-memos are issued to those violating traffic rules via artificial intelligence. A human interference is pressed into action when the vehicle’s number plates are not readable. UNLIMITED NET
