  • | Saturday | 21st April, 2018

From being described as the kingpin of Naroda Patiya massacre, to being acquitted of all charges, former state minister Maya Kodnani's fortunes have swung wildly in the past few years. A decade after the horrific crime, a special court had sentenced Kodnani to 28 year's imprisonment in August 2012 describing her as the 'kingpin'. Less than six years ago, a special court had convicted Kodnani in the Naroda Patiya case — the worst communal massacre in Gujarat in 2002. Legal battles for the gynecologist-turned-politician are not yet over, as she is also facing trial in the Naroda Gam riots case. Fast forward to Friday, and the Gujarat HC overturned Kodnani's conviction.
