Indus valley civilisation circuit to attract foreign tourists in Gujarat soon

Foreign tourists also are fascinated by the ancient civilisations, and they will have another option to visit Gujarat and that is one of the world's oldest civilisation, Harappan or Indus valley civilisation. Gujarat government's tourism department has focused on this age-old civilisation that existed and was buzzing in Gujarat once upon a time. The department has decided to develop the tourist circuit that covers all the sites of Harappan or Indus Valley Civilisation in Gujarat. Initially, the state government is going to develop four of these sites including Dholavira in Kutch, Lothal near Ahmedabad, Ranpur near Limbdi and Sur Kotda near Morbi. The tourism department will not only revive this sites on the lines of tourism but will also raise facilities for tourists at the places. The secretary of the tourism department SJ Haider said, "When I met some Australian people including some influential leaders in past, they had said me that they would visit Gujarat for two reasons, first one was for visit to Indus valley civilisation sites and the second one was for golf. Besides them, many foreign tourists send queries to us on the sites related to Indus valley civilisation in Gujarat." "The tourism department has raised some facilities at Dholavira in Kutch and Lothal near Ahmedabad, but now we are going to make a tourist circuit dedicated to the Indus Valley Civilisation and that will be named as 'Sindhu Darshan,' as the civilisation developed alongside the river Indus that was also known as Sindhu in ancient India. We have great plans to develop two other sites besides this and we will showcase the treasure Gujarat before the world," Haider added. The tourism department is going to develop museums, accommodation facilities and other recreational activities nearby the sites of Indus valley civilisation to facilitate the tourists. The guides too will be made available by the department to the tourists at these sites. Sites of Indus valley civilisation in Gujarat Indus Valley civilisation's scope in Gujarat was prolated till Surat including districts like Kutch, Surendranagar, Patan, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Amreli and Bharuch. There are near to 22 sites in Gujarat which have found remains of Harappan civilisation during excavations.
