The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) organised a two-day Lokdarbar, an on-the-spot tax complaint redressal round, for bringing solutions in the tax bills queries. On day one, the civic body received 737 applications, out of which 436, were resolved. A query of a senior citizen at Bodakdev zonal office ended successfully. "Previously, I had applied to correct my name in the property bill. I made the last application on March 15. They did nothing. I came here today after reading about the Lokdarbar in an advertisement," said Harshad Patel, a 68-year-old applicant. "They asked me to write a new application. I was told I will be called after 15 minutes. They have been making excuses even after an hour has passed. I used to work in AMC. Now, I have no idea about the situation," he said. Patel was one of the people who had come to Lokdarbar and had to file fresh applications. Standing committee chairman Pravin Patel said the first day of Lokdarbar was successful because around 436 applications were addressed. Also, 201 applications are pending. "We had fielded our volunteers at each zone. People had problems and the staff were not friendly. Now, the question arises why were the old applications rejected? Our volunteers worked as employees to guide and help people," said Haresh Kothari, city president AAP.
