Vibrant Gujarat Summits to showcase state's business muscle

Jayendra Tanna, outgoing vice president of GCCI said that a similar initiative was taken by GCCI during Vibrant Gujarat Summit in 2013 and over 3,500 meeting was held with foreign delegates. Sectors like ceramics, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and petrochemicals are some the sectors where Gujarat is very strong.

The flagship biennial business event of Gujarat will showcase the state’s might in sectors where it has significant contribution nationally, a top official said here on Saturday. Industrial clusters in the state, which have made a mark nationally and internationally, will also be showcased to the visitor so that more business is generated. The idea is to promote small businesses, which are the backbone of India’s economy. “During Vibrant Gujarat Summits, we are not able to leverage the benefit from visiting delegates to the extent to which we would like to. We would like to see more interaction between companies,” JN Singh, Chief Secretary, told businessmen at GCCI on Saturday during the launch of ‘Japan Desk’ at GCCI. However, these are not able to generate business. Singh also called upon business leaders at GCCI to prepare a relevant database of local players so that they can interact with foreign delegates in a more structured manner. Sectors like ceramics, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and petrochemicals are some the sectors where Gujarat is very strong. “We would like to highlight such sectors and clusters during the summit so that they can interact with visitors from all over India and abroad. We want them, especially the MSMEs to create business linkages and get maximum benefit from them,” said Singh. The state government will also publicize them on relevant platforms. He also asked GCCI to take a lead in the initiative. Jaimin Vasa, who took over the baton from Shailesh Patwari as the president of GCCI on Saturday said that he is creating a presentation in this regard, which would be presented to the state government. Jayendra Tanna, outgoing vice president of GCCI said that a similar initiative was taken by GCCI during Vibrant Gujarat Summit in 2013 and over 3,500 meeting was held with foreign delegates. “It was well received by local participants,” said Tanna.
