He should have taken his supporters in confidence before joining BJP and acted accordingly. I would advise him to know the opinion of his supporters within a week and leave BJP if they disagree, or else I will break all political relations with him. At the event, Mahendrasinh said, “I took the decision to join BJP since it is a pro-development party with leaders like PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. I took the decision without any expectations or political bargaining. This is my own decision and my father did not influence me over this. I joined BJP as an individual and not as the son of a former Gujarat CM or a Congress leader.” However, Vaghela was not clear about what he wished for his son to do. Earlier, when he had formed a political party named Jan Vikal Party during the Assembly elections and fielded candidates, his son had not joined him. When asked about it then, Shankersinh had claimed that his son was mature and independent enough take decisions for his career. But after Mahendrasinh joined BJP, Vaghela has now changed his stance. He said, “For any leader, it is necessary to listen to their supporters. He went there only to meet the BJP leaders and not to join the party. However, they pressured Mahendrasinh and he took this decision in haste and in sheer confusion. It is believed that Vaghela could contest the Lok Sabha polls from the Sabarkantha seat.
