The Ahmedabad police on Wednesday withdrew the security cover provided to former IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt, who described the move as an attempt to jeopardise his and his family's security. A senior government official said that Bhatt's security cover has been withdrawn "pursuant to a review exercise by the home department". Reiterating that the threat assessment against him remains high, Bhatt stated that withdrawal of security cover jeopardised his security, and demanded that it be restored. The ex-cop also demanded that the security cover be immediately restored. Ahmedabad commissioner of police AK Singh confirmed that Bhatt's security has been withdrawn, but declined to share the specific reasons behind the move.
