AHMEDABAD: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has decided to cut parking charges at the Kankaria multi-storeyed parking complex, making it cheaper than other parking lots.It will also introduce bulk parking discounts and a monthly pass system for the parking complexes in Navrangpura and Kankaria.Employers who want to avail of parking facilities at these complexes, can get a parking block valid for 25 four-wheelers and 50 two-wheelers for eight hours, for just Rs 1,920. The bulk parking offer works out to a 25% discount.The monthly pass, valid for eight hours a day, will cost Rs 900 for a four-wheeler and Rs 315 for a two-wheeler.For the Kankaria parking complex, the AMC administration proposed car parking charges of Rs 20 for two hours and Rs 5 for every additional hour. For two-wheelers, it will be Rs 6 for two hours and Rs 2 per additional hour.Officials said charges at other parking lots around Kankaria are Rs 30 for the first four hours and Rs 20 for the next four for a car.Thus someone parking a car for five hours will pay Rs 35 at the Kankaria complex, while it would cost Rs 50 at other parking lots. Officials said that when the parking facility was free, utilization was about 100 cars on Sunday and 25 to 30 cars on other days. The proposed charge for more than 12 hours was Rs 125 for four-wheelers and Rs 30 for two-wheelers. The Kankaria complex can accommodate 250 two-wheeler and 250 four-wheelers.
