Gujarat minister on Monday Saurabh Patel received an intimation from Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at the eleventh hour to cancel his visit to the state. Energy minister Patel was supposed to visit the state on October 16 as per Nitish Kumar's schedule for inviting the Bihar government to visit Statue of Unity project. Saurabh then diverted to Karnataka on Monday, after Nitish asked him to halt his trip to Bihar. "The political situation is hot in Bihar over the issue of migrants leaving Gujarat. Nitish Kumar is under pressure of the opposition and that is why Kumar also reacted bit harshly. Following this, the Chief Minister's Office informed Gujarat government to not to send representative for invitation till the next intimation,"a source in the government said. The Bihar Chief Minister and his governor had given appointments whcih they suddenly called off also citing festivals. "The CMO has informed that the delegation from Gujarat should not visit the state as the festivals of Navratri and Durga puja have been going on in Bihar. However, the government did not give any alternative date for visit that is a dilemma for us on next schedule," added the sources. Saurabh Patel, however, could not be reached for comments. He will stay in Karnataka for two days and will return on Tuesday evening. A Gujarat official said, "It will not be possible to reschedule the visit of a delegation from Gujarat to Bihar. A very few days have left before the inauguration of the statue and from the third week onwards, the ministers will be busy visiting different places in Gujarat." "Gujarat ministers also address a press conference at the place they visit. If Saurabh Patel or any other minister goes to Bihar, it is expected that sharp questions on migrant attack issues would again come up in conversation and that could leave Gujarat minister red-faced and the Bihar government as well, so both the governments mutually decided to cancel the visit," the government official added.
