Gujarat govt prepares Statue of Unity site for tourists flow in Diwali vacation

Gujarat Chief Minister (CM) Vijay Rupani and deputy CM Nitin Patel, on Thursday, visited the Statue of Unity where the former asked the state government officials to upgrade facilities at the site so that tourists can enjoy the one-week-long Diwali vacation. The vacation in Gujarat is almost as the new year in the state is celebrated on the one day after. Most of the commercial establishments remain closed during these days and inflow of tourists remains the highest during the yea. The CM also reviewed the preparations for the inauguration ceremony of the Statue of Unity that at the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sardar Patel's birth anniversary on October 31. "A huge number of tourists is expected here upto November 10. The administration should make arrangements for clean drinking water, sanitation, waste disposal, security and toilets on the campus of the Statue of Unity. World-class facilities for tourists should be made," Rupani said. Chief secretary Dr JN Singh and chief principal secretary to CM K Kailashnathan also were present during the meeting on Thursday. This complex will have a flowering valley spread across 230-hectare-area on the way to Statue of Unity, Sardar Patel memorial museum, a tent city for stay and Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat exhibition displaying unity in diversity of India. The CM visited all these places during his visit. "This is going to a unique destination for tourism in India and that will give the inspiration to the future generations in India. The Statue of Unity will make the realisation of Sardar Patel's persona to the world," CM said.
