(Representational) Surat police on Monday submitted before the district court the chargesheet filed against a 19-year-old man for allegedly raping a five-year-old girl. The 460-page chargesheet consists of investigation papers and statements of 43 witnesses. Police have also submitted a copy of spot evidence, circumstantial evidence along with FSL report of the clothes of the accused and the minor, besides their medical examination report, which stated that she was raped. Surat police took help from two retired assistant commissioners of police – Siraj Zabbha and Riyaz Munshi – who had worked with the investigating team and assisted them in collecting crucial evidences. The girl was raped on September 29. She was found in an unconscious state in an open ground, around four kilometres from her house. The accused has been booked under IPC sections of rape, kidnapping, and under sections of POCSO Act. Police sources said the five-year-old girl was playing near her house with a four-year-old boy. After an hour, when the girl’s mother searched for her, she found her missing. The mother asked the four-year-old boy about her daughter and the boy said his uncle took her away. The girl’s parents then approached the local police station. In the evening of September 29, when the accused returned home, police took him to police station for questioning. After several hours of interrogation, the accused broke down and confessed to kidnapping the girl and then raping her, police sources said.
