Nurse thrown out of car for resisting assault

She was first taken to a private doctor in Sudamada village and then to CU Shah Hospital in Surendranagar. However, on her way to Ahmedabad, she succumbed to the injuries.“The victim knew Khachar and told his name to her husband. When she refused his demand, Khachar grabbed her hand, following which she raised a hue and cry.

RAJKOT: A nurse working with the community health centre ( CHC ) in Sayla town of Surendranagar district died after being thrown out of a speeding car by the driver as she refused his sexual advances.Victim Dipti Vajkani (28) suffered serious head injuries after she fell on the road and her head crashed into a boulder by the roadside between Sayla and Paliyad on Tuesday morning. Vajkani was returning from her in-laws’ house in Umapur village, 22 km from Sayla, as she had to resume duties at the community health centre..She had hired the taxi of Shantu Khachar (35), a resident of Vantavachh village adjoining Umapur..On Wednesday, police arrested Khachar and he was booked for murder and section 354 of IPC (outraging modesty of a woman).Once she was aboard the car, Khachar demanded to have sex with her. Vajkani was seated on the adjoining seat of Khachar. When she refused his demand, Khachar grabbed her hand, following which she raised a hue and cry. This angered Khachar who pushed her out of the car. Vajkani fell on the road from the speeding car and her head banged on a rock.One of Vajkani's acquaintances, Kuber Koli, who was passing from there saw her in an injured condition and informed her husband Raibhan. She was first taken to a private doctor in Sudamada village and then to CU Shah Hospital in Surendranagar. As her condition deteriorated, the doctors referred her to Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. However, on her way to Ahmedabad, she succumbed to the injuries.“The victim knew Khachar and told his name to her husband. We arrested Khachar from his house in Vantavachh on Wednesday morning. Khachar confessed to the crime,” said D B Basia, Limbdi deputy superintendent of police. Vajkani was working in Sayla CHC for the past three years and this was her first posting.
