But one of the Sadhvis explained, “When it is about protecting modesty and character, violence is permissible.”At a time when women from different age group are subjected to sexual harassment , a group of Jain Sadhvis (female monk) are taking training in self-defense in the diamond city. After recent case of harassment of a Jain Sadhvi in Gopipura area, the group of 50 Sadhvis are taking the training to use stick, hand moves and also psychological preparedness The organisers of the training camp claimed that the Sadhvis have demanded training following the recent incident. “The Sadhvis asked for training in self-defense as they become victim of harassment at different time and place. They wanted to learn some techniques with which they can fight with the person until some help arrives,” said Ashit Gandhi, a trustee of Jivan Kalyan Trust that organised the training."Incidents of harassment with the Jain Sadhvis take place often on road or at other locations even during odd hours. They wanted us to arrange the training to empower them to deal with such situation,” Gandhi added.
