AHMEDABAD: In a freak incident early on Tuesday morning, a private vehicle rammed into the entrance door of the internal terminal link — a subway which connects the domestic and international terminal — at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) airport. The incident had been immediately reported to the terminal manager of Terminal-2 — the international terminal of the airport.A well-placed source at the airport said, “The incident occurred around 4.30am in which the driver of a private vehicle who had come to pick up a passenger, rammed his vehicle on the glass door of the entrance of the internal terminal link. Upon investigation, it was found that the driver mistakenly pressed the accelerator of the car instead of applying brakes, after which he lost control and rammed the car into the glass door.”Airport authorities confirmed that no untoward incident or casualty was reported following the incident. “The engineers of the airport estimated that the damages amounted to some Rs 80,000. The car owner, however, paid the amount in entirety for the damages caused to the airport premises because of his carelessness,” confirmed the source.
