Over 2,000 restaurants to participate in Vibrant Gujarat Summit

Registration of businessmen for upcoming Ahmedabad Shopping Festival 2019, has touched 12,000 mark, said Shailesh Patwari, who is heading an 18-member team to rope increase participation and sponsorship. This also includes close to 2,000 restaurants and eateries, who will offer up to 15 per cent discount and organise food festivals as well. "We have received registrations from restaurants, clubs, traders of cosmetics, optics, oil merchants, medical stores, and pathological labouratories among others. Clubs like Karnavati Club and others will come out with offers," said Patwari. Rohit Khanna, member of core committee of Hotel and Restaurant Association – Gujarat (HRA) said that over 2,000 restaurants and eateries from North-West Zone have registered for ASF. "Restaurants from other parts of the city have also registered. We want to give customers a gala time during the 12-day festival. Many of the restaurants will offer ethnic food festival as well," said Khanna. A meeting of Ahmedabad Computer Merchants Association (ACMA) was also held on Friday to ensure participation of its members and discount offers. "We are working out the details," said Kishor Nagecha, president of ACMA. It is only a matter of days registration has shot up for the festival, happening for the first time. While earlier Vibrant Gujarat Shopping Festival Federation was driving the show. Now Gujarat government has taken the matter in its hands. Kaushik Patel, minister of revenue in state government is monitoring the situation on daily basis to ensure participation from maximum businesspersons. The chief secretary Dr JN Singh said that the ASF was aimed at develop as brand of Ahmedabad alike Dubai and other estinations which are reckoned with as shopping paradise globally. "We have set the goal of 20,000 stakeholders for ASF and the total registration has reached near to 10,000 but it is always good to keep the high goal so as we will make efforts to achieve it over the period of time. There are several teething issues but we will overcome those. Our aim is to give Ahmedabad a ecognition and to make community availing benefits of same," Singh added.
