AHMEDABAD: A 60-year-old man from Surendranagar died in an accident on Sunday, when he lost control of his car and collided with another car after braking suddenly to avoid hitting a herd of cows that had suddenly sprung on to the road near Jakhvada village in Viramgam taluka of Ahmedabad.The deceased, Ajitsinh Rana, a resident of Dervada in Lakhtar taluka of Surendranagar district, was a cotton farmer.Police, however, filed a complaint under Sections 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), but has not named any accused in the FIR.Viramgam (rural) police, which registered the case, made the victim’s son Ravirajsinh the complainant in the case where stray cows were involved in the fatal accident.On Sunday morning, Ajitsinh left home at around 9.30am for Kadi town in Mehsana district in his car. At around 11.30am, Ravirajsinh received a call from a resident of Jakhwada village, Manoj Gohil, who told him that his father had met with an accident.“Gohil told Ravirajsinh that when his father was near Janpath Hotel near Jakhwada, a herd of stray cow suddenly came on to the road. On why the owner of the cattle would not be made an accused in the case, Bhukan said that no case can be lodged against the cattle owner.“It is responsibility of car drivers to drive carefully because stray cattle can come on to the road at any time.
