Gujarat High Court slaps Rs 1,000 fine on Balvantsinh Rajput

Gujarat High Court on Tuesday slapped a fine of Rs 1,000 on BJP leader Balvantsinh Rajput as one of his supporting witness did not appear before the court. A single judge bench of Justice Bela Trivedi had summoned the witness, Vinodkumar Thakkar, owner of Bhakti Travels to testify before the court. However, he did not remain present in the court for a testimony, resulting in the fine. Balvintsinh has challenged Patel's election to Rajya Sabha saying that he got votes by intimidating Congress MLAs to vote in his favour. Minister of State for home and law, Pradeepsinh Jadeja is also supposed to give testimony on Wednesday.

The amount is supposed to be deposited in the registry by Wednesday. This is to compensate for the expenses incurred by Patel for the proceedings. A single judge bench of Justice Bela Trivedi had summoned the witness, Vinodkumar Thakkar, owner of Bhakti Travels to testify before the court. However, he did not remain present in the court for a testimony, resulting in the fine. Minister of State for home and law, Pradeepsinh Jadeja is also supposed to give testimony on Wednesday. Balvintsinh has challenged Patel's election to Rajya Sabha saying that he got votes by intimidating Congress MLAs to vote in his favour.
