Gujarat: Promising to help clear ATKT exams, 4 friends rape 20-year-old

According to Ramol police, where the complaint has been filed, the incident took place eight months ago in a guest house located in the area. The complainant is a college students and the accused are her friends. According to the complaint, the survivor had contacted the four eight months ago when she came to know that they have contacts with certain officials and with their help, she can pass the exams. With the promise of getting her ATKT exams cleared, the accused took her to a guest house in Ramol, where they repeatedly raped her. After the incident, the four allegedly blackmailed her and raped her on further three occasions. "The girl later got pregnant and narrated the incident to her parents. However, she refused to register a complaint," said a police officer. However, on February 28, the survivor was admitted to LG Hospital when she faced a medical emergency. The foetus died during delivery and was later cremated. At the hospital too, the girl's parents refused to register a complaint. Eventually, on March 19 the girl agreed to file a complaint while she was still in the hospital. Aksaray Makwana, DCP Zone V, said, "It is a very sensitive case and we have started an investigation in the matter. Right now, the condition of the girl is critical and her treatment is ongoing. We have the names of the accused but right now we are trying to confirm their identities by showing their photos to the survivor." As per police, the girl is also facing physical and mental distress and is changing her statements. She identified an accused in one of the photos showed to her but when he was taken in front of her, she said he isn't the one. "We are trying to identify the place where the incident took place and why the complaint was not registered earlier. Things will clear up once the accused are identified and arrested," Makwana said.
