A man in possession of tiger skin and a country-made pistol was held in Ahmedabad. According to the initial probe, he had bought the skin in Rajasthan around five years ago. The accused, identified as Rajiv aka Lalit Soni (38), is a resident of Nava Vadaj area. Crime Branch officers made the arrest near the 132-foot ring road area after receiving a tip-off about him possessing a firearm illegally. The tiger skin and the pistol were recovered from his house during a search. Soni bought the tiger skin from a friend, Narendra Soni, in Bikaner, Rajasthan. Narendra was supposed to take the skin back from him, but never did. A complaint has been registered against him under the under the Indian Wildlife Protection Act. While the pistol was bought from Jogendra Singh Rajput, a resident of Chandkheda and Kalpesh Gajjar, a resident of Vatva for Rs 10,000. BM Devmurai, PSI Crime branch, said, "In the case of the pistol, we have arrested all three accused and further investigation is on. While in the matter of tiger skin the investigation will be done by forest officials."
