Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation seals 23 commercial units for defacement

The business business operators in the city have been using these spaces for advertising their products or business. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation cracked a whip against the violators of the property defacement and on Monday sealed 21 commercial units. After the general election, the civic body had started removing posters, banners and other publicity messages for the political parties. A similar drive of anti-defacement was launched in 2018 by civic body. They were posted or pasted without permission from the civic body.

Streets, walls and pillars have been defaced by the posters across the city. The business business operators in the city have been using these spaces for advertising their products or business. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation cracked a whip against the violators of the property defacement and on Monday sealed 21 commercial units. After the general election, the civic body had started removing posters, banners and other publicity messages for the political parties. Recently the estate department has started taking action against violators who are defacing the public walls and other properties. "We have found several posters and advertisements across streets by some commercial units. They were posted or pasted without permission from the civic body. They were using the space illegally. Hence we have sealed the premises," said a senior AMC official. The sealed properties include Sagar Optician, Fitness Fuel, Gyaan Institute, Harshid Shah, Hike Academy, Learner Zone Group tuition, Reading Room & Academy, Planet Courier, Shailesh Modi, Sig Overseas, Australia Education Expo-2019, Arham Education, Chintan Kandiya, C-Dac Computer, Career Launcher, Turning Point Computer Academy, H&B Computer Education, Podar Jumbo Kids, Resident Plot, Shankheshwar Residential, Urgent Laptop Repairing, Shivam Institute and Endeavor. A similar drive of anti-defacement was launched in 2018 by civic body. During that time AMC had filed several police complaints, one of them was against an unknown person for graffiti 'Have Bandh' which was done over a public toilet near Thaltej. In last few days, AMC took actions against more than 40 commercial units. VIEW TO PRESERVE
