We don't discriminate on whether it is a woman officer or a man officer," Shukla told DNA. On Sunday morning, Jusaab Allrakha was apprehended by a team of four Gujarat ATS officers — Santok Odedra (PSI who was heading the team), Nitmika Gohil, Aruna Gameti and Shakuntala Mal. But there are some who might believe that women officers are meant for desk jobs. The team was dispatched for Botad to investigate the whereabouts of Jusaab and to also then apprehend him. But on Sunday, the Gujarat Anti-terrorism Squad (ATS) took yet another step to break these stereotypes and sent an all-women police officers' team to Botad to apprehend a very dangerous and known criminal who had been absconding since 2018.

While there are many police officers who pass the IPS exam and become a police officer, more often than not, most of them end up behind a desk in a police station and are rarely sent in active field duty. But on Sunday, the Gujarat Anti-terrorism Squad (ATS) took yet another step to break these stereotypes and sent an all-women police officers' team to Botad to apprehend a very dangerous and known criminal who had been absconding since 2018. On Sunday morning, Jusaab Allrakha was apprehended by a team of four Gujarat ATS officers — Santok Odedra (PSI who was heading the team), Nitmika Gohil, Aruna Gameti and Shakuntala Mal. The team was dispatched for Botad to investigate the whereabouts of Jusaab and to also then apprehend him. The team had gotten a tip-off where they were made aware of his whereabouts in the middle of a deserted forest area in Devgadh, Botad. When the team reached there, they chased him and apprehended him. Jusaab is a known criminal who has offences of murder, extortion, loot and other — at least 23 cases of serious crimes against him in Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Junagadh, etc. While the ATS deputy inspector general (DIG) Himanshu Shukla said that this was not a new concept at least in ATS that there are woman officers who are sent in the field for many operations, but it was the first ever that a team of women officers were also headed by a woman. "All of these brave officers had been assisting in many cases and helped crack a lot of them as well. We don't discriminate on whether it is a woman officer or a man officer," Shukla told DNA. His words were echoed by Santok Odedra who also said, "there has been no discrimination that I have faced at least. But there are some who might believe that women officers are meant for desk jobs. To them, ill say that they should not underestimate women." ROWDY SHEET
