Video games often come with an advisory about the violence in the game itself. But in an unfortunate incident on Tuesday night, video games led to a fight between a couple. A 35-year-old woman was beaten up by her husband when she tried to stop him from playing PUBG, which itself, was recently at the centre of controversy and even saw a ban in some states, including Gujarat. According to police officials, the incident took place at the Anjana park society in Hirawadi. On Tuesday, at around 9pm, Nitesh Prajapati, who works as a diamond polisher, returned home from work to his wife, Asha Prajapati (35) and his parents, Durlab Prajapati and Shanti Prajapati. Nitesh finished dinner and started to play PUBG on his phone. After some time, when Asha told him to stop playing, he got irritated and started abusing her. A heated argument broke out between the couple, during which Nitesh started to beat her. Nitesh's parents rushed to their room, but according to Asha, sided with the man. After the ugly fight, Asha tried to commit suicide by hanging herself in her room but Nitesh and her in-laws intervened to foil the attempt. She was taken to the Civil Hospital for treatment. Later, Asha lodged a case against her husband and in-laws. A case of domestic violence was lodged with Krishnanagar police station by the victim against the three. She alleged in her complaint that her in-laws used to mentally torture her for small household issues, while her husband would physically abuse her even when minor arguments broke out between them. Inspector VR Chaudhari of Krishnanagar police station said, "Right now, we have lodged a case in the matter against the victim's husband and in-laws and have started an investigation. Primary investigation revealed that around four years back, the victim had lodged a similar case against her husband.
