Ahmedabad: Man kills wife over household work, calls up cops for help

A 50-year-old woman was strangled to death by her husband during a fight between the couple over household chores. After the incident took place, the man called the cops and asked for help. A complaint was lodged with Chandkheda police station by the victim's brother Hasmuk Parmar, who is a constable with the Ahmedabad traffic department. During the altercation, Moti strangled Jasuben to death. During the investigation, it was also revealed that in 2018, a case of domestic violence had been lodged against Moti.

A 50-year-old woman was strangled to death by her husband during a fight between the couple over household chores. After the incident took place, the man called the cops and asked for help. The deceased was identified as Jasuben Makwana (50), a resident of Bagirath Society in Motera area. A complaint was lodged with Chandkheda police station by the victim's brother Hasmuk Parmar, who is a constable with the Ahmedabad traffic department. According to the police, Jasuben's husband, identified as Moti Makwana (54), is a retired senior clerk with the State Bank of India, Ashram road branch. The couple lived in Bagirath Society with their daughter and son. They used to have disputes regarding household matters quite regularly and things had even gotten physical sometimes. In 2018, a case of domestic violence was lodged with the Chandkheda police by Jasuben against her husband after he thrashed her. However, the couple sorted out issues between them and the case was closed. On Wednesday morning, at around 6:30am, after their children had left for school, a dispute broke out between the couple again. During the altercation, Moti strangled Jasuben to death. Moti then called the police control room and asked for help. Inspector BK Gamar of Chandkheda police station said, "When our team reached the spot, the victim was dead. The accused had only informed the cops about the dispute. During the investigation, it was also revealed that in 2018, a case of domestic violence had been lodged against Moti. We have arrested the accused and further investigation is on."
