Ahmedabad on high alert ahead of I-Day celebration

City administration beefed up the security in various pockets of the city amid Central Intelligence Bureau's terror alert to Gujarat Police. Subsequently, a meeting was held on Wednesday by the Ahmedabad City Police Commissioner AK Singh with the Senior police officer of Ahmedabad Police regarding security arrangments in the city. Vijay Patel, DCP (Control Room) speaking on the security arrangement, said, "We have increased the security in the city perimeter, after the high alert from central agencies. Adding further DCP Patel said, "Have asked every police station staff to stay alert and report to a higher official if suspicious activity spotted. Similarly, all the entry and exit points of the city have been barricade and each suspected vehicle to be checked."

Ahead of 73rd Independence Day on Thursday, the Ahmedabad Police has made extensive security arrangements pressing all its officials into action, increasing the deployment of security forces on the prominent checkpoints in the city. Subsequently, a meeting was held on Wednesday by the Ahmedabad City Police Commissioner AK Singh with the Senior police officer of Ahmedabad Police regarding security arrangments in the city. The city cops have taken several precautionary measures to avoid any untoward incident. Moreover, all transit routes to the city have been barricaded and around 100 check posts have been set up inside and at outskirts of the city to monitor every vehicular movement. Armed police officials have been deployed at the checkpoints and suspected vehicles are checked thoroughly. Around 12,000 personals of the city police force will be deployed along with the two companies of State Reserve Police (SRP). In addition, the strength of PCR vans has been increased to 85 and each every van to consist of an armed police officer or SRP Jawans while patrolling. Vijay Patel, DCP (Control Room) speaking on the security arrangement, said, "We have increased the security in the city perimeter, after the high alert from central agencies. We have also increased the deployment of an armed officer in the city." Adding further DCP Patel said, "Have asked every police station staff to stay alert and report to a higher official if suspicious activity spotted. Similarly, all the entry and exit points of the city have been barricade and each suspected vehicle to be checked." Cops have also increased the security of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Airpot, all passengers have been asked to reach the Aiport three hours before the time of departure of their flight.
