The neuro physician also said there are other factors that could also lead to memory issues. These include deficiency of vitamin B complex and uncontrolled diabetes and blood pressure. "Vitamin B complex deficiency is very common in vegetarians and can be detected through a blood test. If low levels are found, it can be resolved through supplements," Parikh added. The medical practitioner also clarified that people at times do face memory issues, but it does not mean that they need medical attention. However, if the memory impairment is affecting their daily activity, then it is dementia and such a person should immediately avail medical help. Doctors said people can use meditation, yoga, sleep properly, and control their diabetes, blood pressure and thyroid, to arrest memory issues. Meanwhile, on the eve of World Alzheimer's Day, doctors said there is need to create awareness on the incurable disease. Notably, 44 million people are suffering from it across the world and around 4 million patients are in India. Parikh said people with multiple head injuries, professional boxers, and people belonging to the low socio-economic background are at a greater risk of suffering from the disease. She added that rehabilitation of patients suffering from the disease is a major problem in India as they require quality care.
