Govt opposes Hardik Patel's request to leave the state for 90 days in Sessions Court

Congress acting president Hardik Patel has filed a petition in the Ahmedabad Sessions Court seeking change in the terms of his bail application and move out of the state. Hardik Patel has applied to leave the state for 90 days, which has been opposed by the government.

The government has protested that it is not appropriate to allow Hardik Patel to leave the state as he has a serious offense. Just being the acting president of Congress is not the right thing to do, the law is the same for all. 

He also said that the peace of other states was being violated. Hardik Patel has been granted bail by the court on condition that he does not leave the state. A further hearing in the case will be held on September 24.

Hardik was arrested three times in January

  1. On the night of January 18, 2020, Adv. He was then arrested from Viramgam.
  2. Hardik was later released on conditional bail in a treason case. But when the man came out of the jail, the police arrested Hardik Patel for violating the declaration and addressing the meeting. As soon as Mansa was granted bail by the court, Hardik Patel was arrested by the Siddhpur police for holding a rally in the 2017 elections without permission. He was later released on bail.
  3. After his release on bail in the Siddhpur case, Additional Sessions Judge of the Sessions Court, P.M. Unadkat refused.

What is the whole case? In the year 2016, during the Patidar reservation movement, pass conveners Hardik Patel, Ketan Patel, Dinesh Bambhania and Chirag Patel were charged with treason, in which the crime branch has filed a chargesheet against the accused in court. The case is being heard in Sessions Court. For a long time now, the accused, including Hardik, have been deliberately making various requests and getting deadlines. The trial of the case is being delayed due to pleas not to appear in court despite normal work.
