Parents urge Gujarat govt to postpone board exams to June

The class X and class XII board exams will be held from May10 toMay25fortheacademic year 2020-21, the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) has announced.

The All Gujarat Vali Mandal has proposed the state government to postpone board examinations this year keeping in view the rise in Covid-19 cases in the state.
In a letter addressed to chief minister Vijay Rupani, the association has stated that the exams, scheduled in May, should be postponed to June.

The parents’ association has also requested the CM to consider mass promotion for students who are in lower classes.
A large number of children are getting infected in the state and hospitals are setting up paediatric wards at Covid-19 centres, the association wrote in the letter.

As many as 17.5 lakh students participated in the board exams last year and this time the board expects the numbers to go high.
