Cousins in love found dead on railway track

Police said that primary investigation revealed that the cousins were in love and fearing that society would not accept their relationship, they ended their lives.

Body of a 20-year-old youth and his cousin sister was found on the railway track near Kansara village in Sayla taluka of Surendranagar district on Monday evening. The deceased were identified as Arvind Marudiya and Jagruti Marudiya, both aged 20 years and resident of Kansara village.

Police said that primary investigation revealed that the cousins were in love and fearing that society would not accept their relationship, they ended their lives.

“Both Arvind and Jagruti had left their village on Sunday morning on a bike. They laid down on the railway track and the train ran over them,” said an officer from Thangadh police. Passers-by informed the police about the incident. The identity of the deceased was established on the basis of the registration number of the bike that was found near the track.
