Ahmedabad: The rift between various representatives of school managements seems to have come out in the open. The Federation of Self-Financed School Management Associations was formed just some two months ago, and had been at loggerheads with the government over the recently passed Gujarat Self-Financed Schools (Fee Regulation) Act 2017. Of late, federation members from Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot have been using their political influence to meet the education ministers individually, which indicates there are differences within the body. The managements of CBSE and GSHSEB-affiliated schools are members of the federation. There are more than 15,000 self-financed schools in the state, of which only some are members of the federation. Talk about federation president Pravin Kachhadiya preparing to resign was also doing rounds, as some members expressed disappointment at the way he operates."I will resign from the post of the federation's president shortly and therefore cannot comment on the issue at present," he added.Spokesperson of the federation, Dipak Rajyaguru, said, "Even as some members expressed disappointment over Kachhadiya's appointment, he is still the president and has not yet resigned. The government has caused a dispute between school management and parents. The implementation of the bill could have been mulled over for a longer period and could be done from the next academic year.""Once the issues are cleared, we will act accordingly and decide on our course of action. If need be, we may move the court against the bill, after seeking legal advice," he said. Rajyaguru drew a comparison with when people visit restaurants for good food, and don't mind paying a premium. He said they should be prepared to pay a premium for quality education as well.
