5 killed after speeding car hits autorickshaw

By the time the help arrived, two passengers had died, while five others were rushed to the VS Hospital for treatment. Car driver nabbed21-year-old Amir Pathan, who was riding the car, was arrested late on Tuesday. The car driver fled after abandoning his vehicle at the accident site.The front portion of the car was also damaged in the incident.

Accused was returning after having dinner with his friends on Eid Five persons were killed and three others sustained injuries when a speeding car collided with an autorickshaw near Aslali crossroad on Monday night. The autorickshaw carrying nine passengers was going to Aslali gaam from Narol when a black Hyundai Creta hit it from behind at Aslali T-junction at around 12.45 am. The impact of the collision was so strong that all the nine passengers sitting in the auto were thrown out and the vehicle was badly damaged. The car driver fled after abandoning his vehicle at the accident site.The front portion of the car was also damaged in the incident. Locals rushed to the spot and called 108 emergency services. By the time the help arrived, two passengers had died, while five others were rushed to the VS Hospital for treatment. On Tuesday morning, three of them were declared dead by the doctors. The two other injured passengers are undergoing treatment at the hospital, police said. Four of the five deceased have been identified as Kuldeep Chakraverti, Vijaysinh Kushvah, Mahendra Vanzara and Atul Nata. During investigation, Aslali police came to know that the car belonged to Asif Pathan, a resident of Sarkhej. On Tuesday, Pathan himself arrived at the police station and told cops that his son had not returned home since Monday night. He said that though the car belongs to him, his son Aamir had taken it out on the occasion of Eid-ul-fitr as Aamir and his three other friends wanted to have dinner at Sigdi restaurant in Anand. Asif told cops that his son’s phone was switched off since Monday night. “Fearing that he might get caught, the accused had switched off his phone and didn’t even return home,” said VA Charan, sub-inspector of Aslali police station. However, the accused arrived at the police station late on Tuesday as his father was reportedly not allowed to go home. One of them had a fracture in hand and is undergoing treatment at a hospital. Police said a fatal accident case has been registered and efforts are on to nab the other three persons.
