Congress stages protest over electricity problems in Ajmer

AJMER: The Congress on Tuesday staged protest at Tata Power office at Hatibhata and blocked the Jaipur- Ajmer road. Police used mild force to control the Congress workers when they tried to blacken the face of company CEO. There was chaos for more than two hours.The memorandum states that one year is complete of Tata Power working in Ajmer but no facilities have been provided to consumers. There are voltage problem and when consumers went to the office of the company employees of the company misbehaved with them. They also shouted slogan against the company, “On the name of permanent tax the company is charging 3 to 5 thousand rupees from consumer.

AJMER: The Congress on Tuesday staged protest at Tata Power office at Hatibhata and blocked the Jaipur- Ajmer road. Police used mild force to control the Congress workers when they tried to blacken the face of company CEO. There were situations when the police threatened to arrest the protesters who demanded to round up Tata Power officials.Congress alleged that there are regular complaints of price hike in electricity bills and irregular supply.Large number of congress workers on Tuesday morning collected at the office of power supply and Congress district president Vijay Jain said that BJP had given the essential commodity of electric supply to a private company which is looting the poor people of Ajmer.Congress spokesman Muzaffar Bharti said that heavy police was called to threaten congress workers but annoyed and angry workers sat on dharna and blocked the Jaipur road. They also shouted slogan against the company, “On the name of permanent tax the company is charging 3 to 5 thousand rupees from consumer. Even in summer there is no proper supply of electricity,” added Bharati.General secretary Bipin Basil said that when common man is targeted by heavy electric bills, BJP MLAs and leaders remain silent on this issue. He said that on Monday a girl of Madar region was injured by the electric shock and is admitted in hospital as the high tension line is passing touching the roof of her house.Later workers went inside and rounded officials and tried to blacken their faces but police interrupted the act. In presence of police officials, delegation of Congress denied to talk with the corporate head of Tata Power Private Limited Alok Shirvastava and demanded the CEO Yogesh Luthra to come to talk instead.Later when Luthra came to office the delegation gave memorandum of 18 demands and threatened that if the company charges extra money from consumers then Congress will come on road to protest the matter.
