Bisalpur dam still dry, but officials expect more rain

AJMER: Even after proper monsoon, there is no water in Bisalpur dam for the last few days. They also stated that there is enough water in the dam to last for next one year.At present the dam level is 309.34 metres. “Initially, there were 2 cm water came last week and the water level went to 311.90 metres but on Wednesday it again went to 309.34 metres. Officials said that with monsoon having started the water will remain coming till the end of September. Dai, Bisalpur and Khari seasonal rivers are still dry and water has not reached the Triveni point from where it goes to Bisalpur dam.Officials are hopeful that more rains will bring good amount of water as initial rains went down to dried ground.

The dam level is 315.50 metres but it is filled up to 314.5 metres.According to officials, about 500 MLD of water is supplied to Jaipur daily and more than 150 MLD to Ajmer and also to some regions of Tonk district . “We can produce quality water up to 301 metres and there is enough 8 metres water in the dam,” said an official.The dam received highest amount of water in 2009 which was 8.60 meters and lowest last year in 2017 which was 1.94 meters. The dam overflowed in 2004 and then in 2006 and in 2014 and then in the year of 2016 when water started flowing above the level of the dam.Officials are hopeful that this time too there is a possibility that dam will overflow and will store drinking water for three districts, “Because of Bisalpur dam, condition of drinking water in Jaipur is manageable and initially it was started with 100 MLD and now it has increased to 500 MLD daily. Officials said that with monsoon having started the water will remain coming till the end of September.
