Flood-like situation in Kota division, three killed

JAIPUR/KOTA: Heavy to very heavy rainfall that continued overnight at Baran and Kota districts of the state have brought flood-like situation in these districts where several villages were inundated.Kota city and others, including Baran and Jhalawar, remained disconnected from the neighbouring Madhya Pradesh following wreckages in some connecting road bridges for 12 hours.A collapsed house at Kunwarpura village in Baran districtThree people, including two minor sisters, were killed in Kota division and four others of the family sustained injuries after the house in which they were sleeping collapsed in Kunwarpura village of Kawai police station area in Baran.According to police, the deceased were identified as Laxmi Bairagi (10) and her sister Pinki (15), a resident of Jhalawar district. The Baragi family was asleep on the ground floor room of a single-storey house constructed on the boundary of an agriculture field in Kanwarpura village and at around 3 o’clock in the morning, the wall of the house collapsed due to flow of water from the field.A large number people gathered near rain-fed Kunu river which was overflowing. Police rushed to the spot and cleared the commotion to avoid any untoward incident.Baran district, where several villages in Kasbathana, Kishanganj, Bapcha and Harnwdashahaji, Sahahabad and Chabda areas turned into islands and stayed disconnected from the surrounding areas due to flooding rivers and rivulets, is the worse affect in Kota region.
