Overloaded overpriced private buses adding to passengersrsquo woes

Because of strike, private buses without fitness certificate and license are running with overcrowded passengers from Ajmer to different destinations.On Thursday, the fourth day of roadways buses strike, passengers were seen angry on the bus stands. “They had 75 passengers in a 35-seater bus but no one objected,” said another passenger. One of the passengers showed anger and said that on one hand state government is on Gaurav Yatra and on the other hand people are suffering. “The petrol is costly but there is no other transport,” said Bhim Singh Rawat, a villager.Passengers said that with overloaded buses running from Ajmer to different cities accidents are likely to happen and state government is not taking any action. Because of strike, private buses without fitness certificate and license are running with overcrowded passengers from Ajmer to different destinations.On Thursday, the fourth day of roadways buses strike, passengers were seen angry on the bus stands. “I came from Jaipur in a private taxi car and they charged 250 rupees whereas the fare of bus is only 145 rupees,” said Prabhu Dayal, of Adarsh Nagar.Similar situation is faced by many passengers, where they have to travel standing on overcrowded buses. “They had 75 passengers in a 35-seater bus but no one objected,” said another passenger. In last the four days of strike the roadways had a loss of about 29 crores rupees.Major problem is faced by the devotees coming to Pushkar and Dargah as they do not get transportation or they are charged more money than usual. One of the passengers showed anger and said that on one hand state government is on Gaurav Yatra and on the other hand people are suffering. “This is the essential duty of state to provide safe and better transport,” said one of the passengers.Villagers of remote regions who have to come to district headquarter for their small work or to approach any government office are also having a hard time. A villager from Dumara said that he had to bring his son because he had a motorcycle just to submit an application in Tahsil office in Ajmer. “The petrol is costly but there is no other transport,” said Bhim Singh Rawat, a villager.Passengers said that with overloaded buses running from Ajmer to different cities accidents are likely to happen and state government is not taking any action. “We have no option as I have to come for a physical test of Rajasthan police in Ajmer and therefore I travelled on the roof of a bus,” said a passenger from Bhilwara.
