Beggar in life donor in death Pauper donates Rs 661 lakh to Pulwama martyrs

AJMER: The trustees of an elderly woman beggar in Ajmer , who had died in August 2018, have fulfilled her last wish by donating her savings worth Rs 6.61 lakh to the martyrs of Pulwama attack. The trustees waited for a right opportunity to donate the amount since the time of her death. She had made the habit of depositing the money every day in the bank and had nominated two trustees to safeguard her account post her death. Those who were regular to the temple were aware of her habit of depositing the money collected,” said one of the priests at the temple. “The devotees have always treated her with respect and donated alms along with food and clothes.

AJMER: The trustees of an elderly woman beggar in Ajmer , who had died in August 2018, have fulfilled her last wish by donating her savings worth Rs 6.61 lakh to the martyrs of Pulwama attack. The deceased woman Nandini Sharma had left behind a ‘will’ that her savings be used for the nation and the society.Sharma had accumulated the amount by begging outside Ambe Mata Temple at Bajrangarh in Ajmer. She had made the habit of depositing the money every day in the bank and had nominated two trustees to safeguard her account post her death. The trustees waited for a right opportunity to donate the amount since the time of her death. Post Pulwama attack, they were moved by the tragedy and decided that donating the money to the martyrs of Pulwama attack will be a real tribute to Sharma.“The trustees came to the district administration office on Wednesday and expressed their desire to donate money to the chief minister relief fund for the attack victims. The legal cell completed the formalities following which, the amount was accepted and a certificate was issued to them,” said Ajmer collector Vishwa Mohan Sharma.“Despite the fact that her savings came from begging, she wanted it to be of some use to the country and hence, we considered it best to be used for the kin of the CRPF jawans killed in the Pulwama attack,” said Sandeep Gaur, one of the trustees.The news spread like wildfire among the devotees at the temple who held special prayers for her soul. “The devotees have always treated her with respect and donated alms along with food and clothes. Those who were regular to the temple were aware of her habit of depositing the money collected,” said one of the priests at the temple.
